Poetics of Place: Writing at the Intersection of Ruralness & Queerness, with KD Hackworthy

  • Viroqua, WI 54665 United States (map)

Both Queerness & the natural world urge us to see ourselves as unique parts of a complex and interdependent system, rooted in both weirdness & wonder. As Queer writers, we are uniquely attuned to our more-than-human connections, and both the politics & poetics of place. In this class, students will create community & sink into the sensory world through interactive exercises & time in nature. This 3 1/2 hour generative session will include prompts, including an outdoor writing exercise, and the opportunity to share work in community. Attendees should be willing to share their work & receive their peers' pieces with care, as well as to spend a short amount of time outside.
