Poetics of Place: Writing at the Intersection of Ruralness & Queerness, with KD Hackworthy
Both Queerness & the natural world urge us to see ourselves as unique parts of a complex and interdependent system, rooted in both weirdness & wonder. As Queer writers, we are uniquely attuned to our more-than-human connections, and both the politics & poetics of place. In this class, students will create community & sink into the sensory world through interactive exercises & time in nature. This 3 1/2 hour generative session will include prompts, including an outdoor writing exercise, and the opportunity to share work in community. Attendees should be willing to share their work & receive their peers' pieces with care, as well as to spend a short amount of time outside.

Queer Crafting Collective: Boggle Poetry
Play Boggle to create a word list, then create your own poem! This event is free and will be held by H Murray Valentine. All are welcome!
During the 2020 lockdown, Murray played Boggle on Zoom with friends as a way to check in every week. They challenged one another to create songs, poems, and art based on our collective words. There were no strict rules, and they didn't play to win. The aim was to delight one another and to keep creating despite the unknown. Since then Murray has written many poems with this method and turned it into a writing workshop. The Boggle Poetry writing workshop aims to bring joy, connection, and inspiration to writers and gameplayers of all levels.
H Murray Valentine is poet, artist, and diviner in the Driftless Region. Xe believes in the healing art of nonsense. You can find xem online at hmurrayvalentine.net and on instagram @inherentquerent
